After an awesome two weeks spent in Plain, we needed to fill a night between that and our next destination. We found a cute restaurant through Harvest Host who allowed us to park in their parking lot overnight. For the first time since starting on our journey our travel day went to plan. Since we planned to have dinner at the restaurant we aimed to arrive just prior to dinner time. We found the restaurant with ease and they had a very big parking lot. The hostess directed us to the back of the lot and we set ourselves up. It was a really hot day and a very big, open parking lot with very little shade so we were very excited to spend as much time as possible inside the restaurant with AC.
We brought colouring books, crayons, farm animals and the kids to join us for dinner inside. They put us in a large dining room and with lots of tables. Shortly after we arrived they seated an elderly couple beside us kept laughing as they watched the boys eat their dinners. Our food came out fast and hot… which is a good thing, but also we would’ve been ok with waiting a few minutes to get to spend more time inside. The food was delicious! Definitely worth a trip if you’re ever in Sunnyside, Washington. Niko particularly enjoyed the ketchup, it was nothing fancy he’s just a big fan of “dippy”.
We prolonged our stay in the air conditioning by ordering desert to share. A big piece of ice cream dirt cake was placed in the middle of the table and quickly devoured. I think Lukas and I got a few bites apiece in between helping the kids load their forks. When we couldn’t find any more excuses to stay inside, we paid our bill and went back home. After putting the boys to bed, Lukas and I brought our chairs out and put them behind the trailer. The way we were parked gave us a nice private sitting area. We sat and listened to the blaring of speakers coming from the pizza delivery drivers right behind the bushes from us. Laughing at the memories that brought up.
While it may not have been the most comfortable sleep I have ever had, I still got to wake up in my own bed. Ready for the next adventure!
